Due to various convoluted and mostly self-inflicted circumstances, I want to write a sci-fi story in the near future.

The main issue is that I've had an almost impossible lack of exposure to the genre.

I've seen the first Star Wars, the Matrix Trilogy, the first three Terminator movies, and Nier Automata.

What TV shows, movies, books, etc. would you recommend to someone hoping to get a fairly comprehensive feel for the genre as a whole?
