I am a filthy casual and have seen only a small amount of Anime, and I'd like to increase my Anime library in my head so can I get some suggestions? I've seen mostly mainstream stuff like

I just don't want anything super realistic. Tokyo Ghoul first season is my favorite but that label is also accredited to me reading the Manga

If by "looking to expand your library" you mean you actually want to see some of the "cores" of anime, I'd probably watch the first season of Lupin, and Cagliostro afterwords. MSG/Z/ZZ/CCA, Marcoss, and do you remember love, Patlabor, and it's movies, Tenchi Muyou, Slayers, along with the movies, Utena, GitS1/2. And basically any of the classics that are generally highly regarded and referenced today still.

Akira is shit and only memorable for the bicycle parts, It'd be better to actually read the manga instead imo. But yeah since you haven't heard of any of those you'd probably be better off watching the top 100 on mal, it's mostly shit but it's pretty much the "normalfag" core minus a few actually good titles.

Here's some "essentials" stuff:

>Studio Ghibli movies (Nausicaa, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso etc)

Looks like you mostly have a taste for light action/adventure fantasy stuff, but that might just be a result of minimal exposure to anime. I think most of those have dubs or are otherwise available on casual streaming sites.

For a lot of the older titles you see listed in this thread you'll probably have to torrent them.

Anyways it is, it's memorable for the animation and that's about it, the story was butchered to fit into a movie's short run time. If you're just looking for animation porn you'd be better off watching metropolis.

But yeah, I saw Akira when I was like 10 and my uncle showed me it, that's when I showed him Naruto because me being the fag 10-year old I was loved that kind of stuff

I'm looking for more newer(ish) stuff I guess because I plan on doing an Old Anime movie binge this summer before I go off to University so I'm just wanting to know the kind of stuff I can watch an episode or two during my boring high school classes

I'm gonna suggest you Kara no Kyoukai for some point, it's a series of dark thriller movies ranging from 45 mins to 2 hours presented out of chronological order but it all comes together at some point. Some of the best animation, music and choreography that anime has to offer, well worth watching.
