Mods don't really get involved with the boards anymore, Hiro does nothing so I feel a lot of the sense of community on 4chan is sort of gone. It's very disjointed, a lot of people don't really care
Add to that an influx of newer posters who care little about community and are just here for whatever latest fad, with 4chan being more mainstream than ever, there's a big disconnect where a lot of people see this as just another forum or avenue to shitpost and be edgy. That's always been the case, but now it seems we get that in droves. It's evident by some of the absolutely shit quality memes in recent times which are just endless regurgitation of the same thing because of a stifling lack of creativity
