Touhou 6 BGM problem

It's been a couple of months since I've installed the game and I never had a problem with it until now. The bgm doesn't seem to play even though I didn't touch any file.
Does anyone know what's going on?
OS: Ubuntu 16.04.3

Tried reinstalling the game, but the problem persists. And the bgm files work just fine if I play them directly.
I just don't know what could've changed in my computer

Ran it with Nautilus, which was the problem. I finally did it but I don't know exactly how to use it.

oh, you're using wine to play the game right? I don't even know how that would affect things.

btw have you noticed any similar glitches beginning recently in other games? that could give you a hint if so

No, but basically, the game is not importing the wav files from the bgm folder.
This doesn't happen in, for example, Touhou 8 since the bgm is located in a .DAT file instead of being an executable .wav file.

try running this
strace -f -t -e trace=file -p PID 2>&1 | grep -F .wav
and replace PID with the pid of the game process. if you don't already know it, you can find it by running "pgrep wine" or "pgrep touhou" or something. (or you can run the game directly under strace without the -p flag if you want)

that should print out the paths to any .wav files the game tries to load. does it output anything when you try?

I can't. Does that command work with two separate words such as "wine th06e.exe"?

well, just try running it directly under strace for now, like this:

strace -f -t -e trace=file wine th06e.exe 2>&1 | grep -F .wav

and try this first just to make sure the tracing is running:

strace -f -t -e trace=file wine th06e.exe

those are messages being printed on stderr, so the grep matching doesn't have anything to do with it. the lack of a Midi synthesizer is interesting though, but if the bgm files are .wav then midi shouldn't be necessary.

try this too:

strace -e open wine th06e.exe

and if you still don't get anything, just try

strace wine th06e.exe

and also try doing the commands with sudo to see if that makes any difference

Nevermind, that code appears in the main menu too. But it could still be related to the bgm issue.

Might as well ask something here since this is a Touhou music thread after all, anyone know where I can get MIDIs for Scarlet Weather Rhapsody?
Gamebanana has quite a few, but not all of them, or some that aren't arranged properly.
