I'd say start from the middle down (9th row) and choose something at random that looks interesting, research it a bit to see if you'd enjoy it (a description on Myanimelist would be good, googling "anime name mal" should get you there) and go from there, since watching the stuff from the 70's and 80's might be hard for you.
Once you've seen them all, (or are just comfortable with watching anime in general regardless of time period) go back and start from the beginning of the list. Ashita no Joe is actually perfect to begin with because it's incredible for a 70's anime. Of course, you don't have to. If you enjoy an anime that it becomes your favourite just look for similar shows. Google is your friend.
Start with Kaiji since I think anyone can watch and enjoy it even if they don't care for anime much and it's one of my favourites, but you can really start wherever you want.
Also use nyaa to torrent anime.
