Easiest way to compare the contents of two folders?

No.929818 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Is there a simple method/program that can find and highlight all the different folders/files between two folders?
To keep a long story short, at some point I copied a ton of my music folders/files from my computer's hard drive to an external one because I was running low on space on my C drive. Skip by more of me being stupid and I now have two music folders on two drives with many of them being identical but with a good few being only on one drive or the other.
I've got about 3.5k artists, each with their own folder, and some 9k total music files within them, and I'm basically trying to have no overlap between each drive's music folder, but to keep the music somewhat equally spread between them since I don't have the space to just select and drag every artist folder on one drive into the other then delete them from that original drive.
Sorry if the way I worded that sounded like gibberish, but if I were more knowledgeable and articulate with computers I wouldn't need to ask for help in the first place.

Ignoring the context, here's my basic question:
Is there a method or free program that enables you to compare the contents of two folders and highlight which folders/files within them are identical to their counterparts on the other folder and which only exist on one of those folders?
