Older stuff tends to be better seeded, content nicely categorized, some lesser risk of getting DMCA'd by your ISP. Downside is dealing with autistic rules, maintaining ratio, logging in all the time. But if you can put up with that, it's nice to never need to search hard for stuff to download ever again.
