is this the only place on the internet where you can ask for general assistance without needing to submit or set any kind of identifying/designating information?

Probably due to the anonymity and plug and play nature. No registration, no personal info needed. Come here, help anons out of request something. Free, unfettered exchange of information without any reservation on part of users. There could be other chans but suffering from lack of active userbase because board culprits dyijg7.

well, those are closed under the topics of their boards. but /wsr/ doesn't have any positively defined topic. I see what you mean though, they're like inanimate miniature /wsr/ fragments

That might be a little fast but I wouldn't think it'd be terribly drastic. Threads last about a day without any bumps at the current rate, so doubling the posting volume would mean they last more like 12 hours. So I guess anons would need to be more vigilant about bumping their own threads, especially for harder or more niche requests that take time.
