I got the same issues using transparent background, so what I did was change the background colour first to black, #000000, fuzz level 4% or 5% or something like that
I took the resulting gif then ran "replace colour with transparency: black" on it
I didn't know what to expect with the results but it seems to have done a fine enough job to me
Maybe if someone is more familiar with the site they can offer some more advice.
