I know they're really fucking terrifying and the urge to do compulsions is monstrous but there's nothing you can do to just stop them. but here's the thing, literally everyone regardless of whether they have OCD or not get the same thoughts, people with OCD just think those thoughts are important and need to be solved which is why they stay in your mind. you can't just will the thoughts away, the only way to recover is to acknowledge the thoughts are there and then not react to them, that's what ERP is all about. you have to go through the mental torture of feeling like something bad will happen and still not doing anything to solve it in order for your brain to realise they're not important. I went though OCD and I know what it's like, you have to trust me when I say you need to do this. you'll feel worse at first and give in sometimes but the more you just don't react when you feel the need to something the better you'll feel in the long term, look up what goes into ERP because a lot of therapists straight up know nothing about OCD
