Ive liked a lot of animes, but they arent ones that any of my weeb friends have usually seen and Im not into what they like. Usually i hear suggestions from movie reviewers that do regular hollywood or filmfest releases.
Ive liked stuff from Makoto Shinkai (the one who made Your Name), liked about half the ghibli movies ive seen, A Silent Voice... I dont know what they all have in common. Could be grounded characters, comfy feels, nice emotional beats or a journey from the mundane to the extraordinary.
What im not into are the harem datings, sport boys, dating, mecha, or pervy fan service ones.
Im not sure if it means much, but the only things ive liked happened to be movies and ive yet to see a show that i enjoyed. I have seen a bunch but didnt enjoy them (they were basically checklists of tropes).

Any suggestions i might like?
