What kind of technologies and or applications do you find challenging?

How could their useability be improved?

What kind of technology do you find easy to use? (Does it meet your needs?)

How do you think the services/systems of the thing you find challenging be improved?

GUIs with nested sub-menus, and CLIs that don't have documentation examples for each command/option.

the stuff that I use constantly. e.g. my text editor

CLIs are fine, they just need more examples in the docs. making a GUI though is more of an art than a science. I don't know what to suggest there.

Apple Music. It just doesn't behave in a way I find intuitive. Simple things like "play the next song in the album of the current song" are so difficult I have to google it every time.

Text. There's been a movement to take they text labels out of everything because they clutter the UI up, but this just means that anything I don't use regularly is full of meaningless symbols. Pic related, imagine trying to guess what "CATegories" did without the text label.

It just needs more consideration given to the first-time user. All of, for example, Winamp's functionality was obvious even if you didn't use it a lot, because it all either looked like every other media player, or it was labelled.

If you want your phone to play music, you have to. They integrated the iPod functionality into it, so if you want the 40-hour battery life, the car integration, titles showing up on your hifi/tv when you plug in your phone by USB, etc. etc., you have to sync your music on as iPod music, but that means if you want to play it you have to use the Apple Music app.

It's dreadful. Everyone that tries to redesign it ends up making something even worse, because fundamentally it's doing too many things, like if Adobe decided they were only going to make PublisherPhotoshop.

audacity is kind of tricky for me. there's a lot of ways you can edit audio, and it gets a bit overwhelming when you are a beginner.

it would be helpful if there was something that can easily tell where the beats are, i have to eyeball it (as in, zoom in and look at the waveform) and use my best judgement. it becomes difficult to see the beats if the music is very loud overall

i like the way the twilight app is designed. it puts a red filter over your phone. very simple and stripped down, sliders are much more manageable, and experimenting with the sliders leads to an instant change so you can quickly adjust it to your liking

audacity seems a bit dated, it's mostly for editing sound and not so much sampling, i think they can make it more friendly towards sampling
