Interestingly the vacuum of space measured at 17 tor can't touch the atmosphere at all. It surrounds the earth and attempts to sip on it constantly from every direction but unlike your God tier lungs the entire universe, literally, cannot compete.

Also the Earth and anything physical for that matter absorbs radio signals which is why radio towers are at the top of mountains. Line of sight matters.
