I am accustomed to conveyer belts moving bulk material after shuttle cars or articulated coal haulers move that material from the continuous miner face to the end of the belt line, so am not exactly sure what this new system entails -- like if it replaces the shuttle cars.
Less diesel use underground is definitely a plus. I remember working in my twenties for a while at a surface quarry and cutting belt lines and being gassed out by the diesel fumes from nearby equipment, just blowing at me for hours straight. Made me lightheaded.
Electrification, especially underground, is a good thing.
