Luciferianism is one branch of satanism, most commonly found in the form of Gnosticism. It starts with the teaching that everything is one, so is good and evil just emanations of the one, Monad, their version of God, and thus doing either is as good as the other and a way to embrace God, aka moral relativism. The serpents first lie. The ascension towards Godhood by forsaking Gods law and morality and making your own which is also depicted in their imagery, the ascension above the dualistic world.

Large part of luciferian/satanic philosophy is argumentation about how there is no objective good and evil, that its whatever you want, and thus you are free to do whatever you want. They perceive laws and morals, instead of advices and guidelines for a prosper life and society, as chains and limitations that keep them from doing what they really want, masking their evil merely as freedom and liberation. This is what the fruit represents. Casting off Gods morality, making our own, thus "liberating" us from Gods law and making up our own and thus rule over others, "being like God".
