as far as the story of Jesus the Christ given in the highly edited, redacted, twisted New Testament that is transparently a collection of stories and parables from older traditions, yeah it's very possible that it's not real- that Jesus from the bible was either a fictional character or made up from a number of other messiah figures. Bart Ehrmann's works are a good resource on this.
but just because it's a story doesn't mean it's not TRUE and REAL
like everything else Jesus is quoted as saying: the birth, sacrifice and resurrection of Christ is a parable! it's an allegory! it's a symbol!
it is a meme capable of liberating the world and everyone in it. and for that reason i don't just *believe* it's true- i KNOW it is true, in my heart of hearts. i don't have to get it fact-checked by the experts. i KNOW it is true, directly, from my own inalienable connection to the Divine, and that is all the proof i need.
