Without it you'll just end up trying to be something you're not. Gotta know who you are before you can be who you are. Think more in the moment than long term though. You don't have to love everything but at least enough to know you deserve to be loved just as much as anyone else. Of course your partner will help you love yourself more but you shouldn't rely on them for all of your validation.
You may have felt that way with multiple people but the way that you felt about them would remain unique with them. Something you can't replace and if you try to then you'll just hurt both parties.
