they are hard work.
Very hard work and very physical.
To a young man they are fine, but by the time you are 40 -45 you are FUCKED! a few decades of bending, twisting and being on your feet all day wear you down. Repetitive use injuries are the norm.
Many Tradies that have left the trade around 40 to look for something 'easier' and sustainable. People are living for longer now too and 'retirement' is now a thing from a bygone era. So you need skills that you can use through your whole life that do not depend on your body staying intact.
I use to operate a forklift / reach truck and after 5 years my neck was fucked from overuse. I had to quit the job and go for roles that payed a lot less per hour because the job was not sustainable.
