>>16602911If you want to talk about games with somebody, just do it with your friends. Don't go to a public internet space for it. It's just never going to be a good experience.
Maybe if you want some diverse opinions on some random thing, just to get a feel of how people look at it, then it might be alright. But if you actually regularly visit the place and try to give it your best, then I'd feel bad.
I mean, what is the last time you saw a great place to talk about videogames in on the internet?
All of the altchans /v/s still being absolute garbage kind of supports this too, I feel like.
There may be some niche forums out there somewhere that may be okay and have people actually trying to talk about things in them, but good luck finding that if it even exists.
Who knows what the reason for this degradation is. Maybe because every single avenue of talk about gaming has been exhausted, or that people themselves have simply gotten less caring, or maybe both.
As gaming itself gets bigger and consequently worse, as it seems at least, all kinds of things that come out of it become less quality.
Gaming discussion being a waste of time today is maybe because of the industry being worse and lazy by itself.
Compare it to how the internet in general was, long ago. There was more "quality" and people invested into actually talking about things, because it was just a smaller channel, thanks to not everybody and their mother using the internet.
It was entirely nerds wanting to talk about nerdy things because they liked doing it, without all the bothers of modern web. I imagine that gaming discussion on imageboards had more integrity back then because of that.
Now, you know how it is.
Coming back to /v/ itself, I don't see how it's any different at this point than going to a gaming subreddit. It's that bad. Getting any slower or faster won't help it, it's just in a terrible part of the internet and constantly has the worst people coming over to it.
