A fly is something you've killed a hundred times before, but, a spider is something a lot of people fear, and is pretty much a symbol of danger. You should feel the glory from killing a spider and disproving it's motion that he's so deadly and to be feared, alongside every trope that teaches to stay away from spiders. Much more noteworthy than killing just another fly. It's like being happier about killing the king's pawn, rather than the king himself. You should get a rush of dopamine from killing that spider and feel absolutely invincible, just talk trash to it for a fair moment, and feel all good about yourself. That's what insects and whatnot are here for, to sate your bloodlust and make you feel nice from being able to deal with them. I'd probably run away from a spider, so, you know, that actually is pretty impressive even if you don't realize. Good job.
Oh, but, I get what you do with flies as well, because when they annoy you, it gets personal. A spider doesn't do much to downright annoy you other than it's presence being unwanted, so, you wouldn't hold that much contempt for it. Even more so if you're a person who has never really gotten bothered by insects and all or found them to be elusive. Then, the most one of them could do is personally get to you. I guess it's if the king's pawn killed your whole family, then you'd feel more satisfied about taking care of it, more so than somebody higher up the chain who you don't find to be all that.
So, overall, fair enough. But I think you should feel the glory from killing both spiders and flies, because in either case you're absolutely wrecking a little shit that thought they could mess with you and take up space in your house, without anything in return. Always feel good about showing them their place.
