Also, most of psychology used to diagnose people having an internal monologue as being mentally ill, until more and more data kept pouring in to the point where the number got high enough that they had to take it off of the list of mental disorders. IIRC only about 1/3 people have an internal monologue.
But NPCs used to dominate the field of psychology so much that they were actively oppressing people with an internal monologue. It's scary that they were so wrong for so long. It goes to show how fragile and unreliable most of this shit is. I don't even trust that 1/3 number either now.
