This might clear things up: If we believe in evolution we agree that there must be one original ancestor, this is the fundament. This original single cellular organism was driven to continuation of life, much like water would be driven to solidify when reaching 0 degrees celsius, yet more complex. This drive reaulted in reproduction, or in that case it was likely replication. This drive continued down the same path (in order for life to continue to exist) and does so yet today, where we currently have many forms of life, yet I argue this is still one life with that chosen method of survival. This drive in itself, could be that beyond sensual perception. Then drive has reached ability to reason, as a will in itself, not something as individual human concioussnes but more so the same yet split up. If this drive is the thing in itself, then through me trying to learn or find out about this, it would be driven towards it but also driven towards survival. It does however not mean the two are seperated.
