Are there any "word for word" bible translations available for free to download publicly?
I'm asking specifically for this verse: genesis 3:24
I can't find anything but interpretations that all vary from each other.

Ah, that verse. The translation you posted is heavily watered down. A more directly translated verse says something along the following:

But in order to establish why a guardian was placed there, it's important to understand why Adam and Eve were turned to corruptible flesh. That's lengthy theological lecture. But a couple verses before the one you posted, it says that God fashioned for them "garments of skins". Sounds like animal pelts, right? But that's not what the verse actually tells us. That verse is telling us that God gave Adam and Eve flesh bodies. Why did he do that? And did he need to "protect" the Tree of Life?

Because: at that stage, humanity was corrupted. If they were to achieve immortality, corruption and sin would be immortal, too. We would be demons. That's the short version. The long version is, as I mentioned, a lengthy discussion on the theology of flesh and non-flesh noetic beings, the ancient definition of "free will", the meaning of the word 'sin', and various other poorly translated items that somewhat distort the original story.

The new was written in Greek, and the old is most accurately preserved in Greek, as proven by the Dead Sea scrolls and other discoveries. Most importantly, Jesus and his followers quoted from the Greek, probably because Jesus was raised in the Alexandrian (Greek) tradition. So start from ancient Greek with an English concordance. Hebrew is irrelevant. All of Western thought is rooted in ancient Greek because of this history.

Technically the Jews changed some verses of the Bible after Jesus, that's why later Christians opted to side with the Greek translations. But like you said, if one really needs to study the verse, they need to at least learn Hebrew.

Not sure whether you mean languages or translations here. Ancient Greek is like a foreign language to modern Greeks, and translations are obviously different, which is the original problem. The point is that we have (many copies of) the untranslated text as it was in ancient times. The solution is to do the translation manually. When you do, it is much more beautiful and reveals so much more history.

I've come across some blogs of expats living in the Netherlands in the past. And things often easily go over their heads.

Even if things are meant literally, if someone tells you to act normal (which Dutch people constantly say) you will need to know the context to know what normal is. Like for example bragging is not normal or taking credit for achievements is not normal. But with figurative speech it goes even further, as normal things can have a very different meaning across cultures. Like peeling an apple = wanting payback. A mouth full of teeth = speechless. Handing out the bed sheets = being in charge. Bullet through the church = making a decision. Throwing with your hat = not properly doing your job. Eating cheese from your bread = being walked over. And then you have lots of untranslatable things. Like Americans have no words for a lot of very simple concepts, like a cozy atmosphere in a bar, sitting back after dinner with your belly out waiting for it all to go down, or waiting a few days until you have strengthened again after sickness, or going to the door to wave at someone while he leaves. The simplest things.

And a lot of things also depend on the perception of things in that culture and time period. Some things are simply not done in other cultures, like here you kiss all women in the room three times if you enter a birthday party. If a Dutch person talks about "American situations" it means undesirable political situations that are unthinkable here, which is mostly due to American politics dealing in absolutes (just think of the legal system, education, free speech, self-defense, the free market and private property), while here nothing is absolute and everything is relative. So the context of nothing everything being grey is a bit alien to Dutch people.

Properly translating things requires intimate knowledge of the language and culture. Realistically, you probably need a Christian from the middle east to put it all into context.

What is termed "Hebrew" today is an affectation fashioned in the Twentieth Century. Yiddish was the common language for jews in Western Europe. Or the language of their Country (Spanish, Italian, etc).

The origin of the Bible is mostly from Greek texts. The people who call themselves jews today had very little to do with preserving and passing down the texts of Christianity.

Translation can be funky here.

"He banished (the) man; and resides in front (or 'before') the Garden of Eden the Cruvim (Cherubim?), and the blaze (or flame) of the twisting sword, to preserve, the way [of/to] the tree of life"

Cherubim are the two figures that preside on top of the Holy Ark.

It was very interesting to read the Greek one as well, because it shows how the translation refined the original verse into something much more coherent and synchronistic. Adam is referred to as "the man" (ha'Adam), as a title rather than a name -- and in the Hebrew source it is ambiguous whether the "way" of the tree of life is a physical path of in the sense of a "way of life", as well as other interesting tidbits.

kjv is the best you can get if your native language is latin or germanic base. you can always get an nasv version or download the alpha and omega version (only one i cant buy a nice hardcopy of). alpha and omega is probably the closest thing to what you are looking for, otherwise its get an english to ancient greek book and have fun.

YES! The one on Spiritual Geography is a great one, I think the title mentions the Boat of Theseus. Kind of a mind bender, but I love that stuff. So, the way it's going to happen is all creation will be transfigured into the world to come - that is where the battle of Armageddon will take place. Heaven is not some far off place - it is what this world becomes when it is transfigured. I'm not sure about 'all people' though. All will be resurrected, but I don't think all will be redeemed. Or, if by redeemed, you mean the Fallen among us will be burned away

That's not how sources work, and it's a translation, which inherently makes it 2nd rate material. It was a translation of the same source from which the original script was scribed among the sects (exactly which one is still unknown). It reflects some verses that were omitted from the Hebrew version, while also conversely omitting other verses entirely. Saying "earliest = most correct" is not only untrue, but entirely defeats the point of ascertaining the origin. The Bible being "sealed" doesn't invalidate the texts therein, it's not a publication of a novel.

Long after the first century AD the Jews invented a new and improved Hebrew language which is known as MODERN Hebrew and this was an attempt to rewrite the Old Testament in order to conceal the truth that the Messiah had come as prophesied. The Masoretic text was NEVER used until many centuries after the New Testament was written in its original Koine Greek.

the modern torah scroll uses these originals and is written in paleo hebrew. thus an original hebrew torah is not translated, just written down from an oral version.
everything you're saying could be true of a translation into modern hebrew, but it would be obvious. you would be able to see it yourself comparing the scroll version to the book version.

All I said was, it being a translation, loses a lot of the complexity that was inherent in the original Hebrew text, as I have demonstrated. That is simply the nature of translating. I have no idea whether or not the New Testament uses the 70 script solely, or in conjunction with Aramaic or Hebrew sources or whatnot; because I am only concerned with the Old Testament, which is where my degree is at. I'm guessing you're more preoccupied with Christ's word than the Old Testament.
Even so, it's a translation of a source that was prevalent across the entire region, from which many variations have emerged (most of which were lost, naturally). The source material of the Old Testament is undeniably in Hebrew, and as such it is best studied in it -- the consolidation date of whichever canon you choose is irrelevant to the fact that the scrolls themselves were always in the background, supplying the myriad sources we have discovered thus far. You need to learn 3 or 4 languages to fully grasp the extent of the original Bible via concordation.

Yes the Masoretic text was written a long time after the Septutagint. The Masoretic text was not the first time that parts of the Bible had been written down in Hebrew, and the oldest surviving biblical manuscripts we have are in fact written in Hebrew - the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Paelo-Hebrew is a real thing but it is broadly the same language as the Biblical Hebrew of the Masoretic text and indeed modern Hebrew (the characters look different, but have the same names, words composed from the characters have the same meaning, and so on).

It's utter bullshit to say the difference is as great as that of Egyptian <-> Chinese [so, (you) I guess].

It's also not true that Paleo-Hebrew was in widespread use any time in the C.E. - you need only read the Dead Sea Scrolls to see that the forms of the letters are those we know from the Masoretic text and later.

I don't see the logic in this statement.
King James being the most read and used version does not, in any way shape or form, increase it's validity or authenticity when examined structurally or linguistically. Greek being the prevalent language at that region at the time does not mean the original texts, which it translated from, did not reflect completely different concepts and nuances via a different language.

Like I said, it could've been signed 2000 years later and it wouldn't change the fact that the sources which it congregated stem from the scriptures from which the Greek version was translated. It not being 'to the letter' or edited in one way or another is exactly why you use multiple versions and not one "canon", but still doesn't change the fact that you can only glean so much from a translation. The source being unwritten (or unfound) does not mean it's not there, as clearly exemplified by the fact there was a Greek translation before the (currently) earliest Hebrew version. Unless the Israelites all spoke Greek in -700 BC, which I doubt.

Two separate trees, of Knowledge and of Life -- and should he eat from the Tree of Life, he would have gained immortality, and apparently in fear of that Adam is cast down. Meaning, if he WERE to gain immorality SHOULD he eat from the tree of life; he was not immortal during his stay in the Garden of Eden. So what was God foreshadowing (if at all) in Gen: 2:17? He did not cast them to a life of mortality; because he feared they would BECOME immortal should they eat from the Tree of Life. They were not given death; neither explicitly nor figuratively, because they were already mortal.

Why is this so hard to understand?
If Jesus ever traveled outside of Jerusalem he would have heard the original Hebrew scroll or an Aramaic translation read at worship in any sufficiently rural town. It's very likely he heard all three.
