Mana may as well be knowledge to create and reagents do not change in definition, only in material. "Casting" is where you lose your delusion because in reality the casting of spells are actions used to invoke chemical or other reactionary responses, not a string of "Words of Power" that channel arcane mysticism to do whatever. (even then the words of power can be compared to the knowledge of how the "spell" is "cast")
