Most people keep the same number forever. Idk in America but here we use PAC codes to port your number to a new provider. It means you never have to do retarded shit like changing your mobile number and then telling 3 dozen places your new number.

In the USA it's tied to your geographical location and phone carrier. If you change both then you're screwed. I almost lost hundreds of dollars worth of steam games this way.
