If they were truly against any of this, they wouldn't tolerate it.
The fact that everyone tolerates means either
A) they support it
B) they don't support it but they aren't willing to speak out against it, which is the same as supporting it.
Most people cope by telling themselves that none of this will affect them. When we were setting the constitution on fire and replacing it with the civil rights act in the 60s, that's what everyone told themselves.
