ADHD fag back from a couple days ago

I ended up getting prescribed 10mg of Adderall XR, took the first pill with lunch at 1330. Fell asleep, but woke up at 8pm WIRED, and have been more or less since. It feels a lot like speed or coke, I thought this was supposed to help me focus

Does it get better over time, or are the memes about adderall being legalized speed true?

adhd meds don't really help you with the real problems of adhd.
people experience mild euphoria for the first few months because they're taking speed and convince themselves that its making their life better and helping them focus.
improved mood leads to improved enthusiasm for life and a small period of slight improvement in handling the daily tasks of life.
then after a few months it stops working, so you get your dose adjusted. maybe it works again for a little while, but then stops again.
no real improvement in productivity happens, just mood.
adhder's either realize this after a while and stop taking the meds, or they lie to themselves and others as a cope.

10mg is nothing, not even a tiny bump

It actually worked for the most part. Also really identifying with your habits. So instead of thinking I am trying to get in the habit of waking up early, tell yourself "I am the type of person who wakes up early." "I am the type of person who gets things done without overthinking." Etc. Identify with the best version of yourself.

i don't think it's possible honestly
i've had some luck with it helping me do mindless chores, even when i take a lot, but nothing special
drugs and productivity just don't mix, you shouldn't be doing drugs in the middle of something important

The pharmacological intervention is only one part of the actual holistic solution. You have to mentally discipline yourself to spend a set amount of time on tasks. It can be short, like 30 minutes. But you have to stick to it. If you know anything about chemistry, think about it like an activation energy. A catalyst (Adderall) can lower the activation energy for a reaction (you actually doing your work), but have to actually put in a little effort yourself to get over the hump and get started.
