I cashed out PLTR and expanded/invested in oil field services and some Canadian pipeline royalty trusts. Trudeau flew down to Florida to message Trump's balls and I am betting on Trump approving more drilling and production therefore more pipelines flows to support more economic growth (Powell will cut rates again in December I believe) to juice the economy for Trump coming into office in January.

no not at all, i cant remember the figure exactly but its something like 40% of all the gold mined by mankind is laying on the sea floor in one place or another. There was a fantastic national geographic doc on the subject in the early 2000s, which went over several wrecks sitting off the coast of Brazil that were worth billions today but are just too deep to be really recoverable.

I forget if I posted this question in a previous thread, without the archive I cant search for it - What is the word on the street for Alliance Resource Partners (ARLP). Looks decent for growth if I got in years ago, but the dividend is 10%. With Trump coming back, the need for more power for data centers, likely high tariffs on chinese solar pannels looks like coal is going to be needed. Nukler power is way too long to permit or build out.

I am not familiar with king coal so that is why I am asking. I try to find and research a wide variety of companies and whenever I find one I am interested in (growth or dividend) I see I am always late and the price has recovered months ago after a long decline.

I got into AT&T at 19-21, but of course missed it at 15. After all the searching I did for ATT I did not then see ATT deal with AST Space Mobile which only later I found and of course missed by six months.

I see all kinds of spam on /smg/ but I was hoping for more commodities focused spam here on CMMG. I have watched for years all the micro miners shilled here where it seems people invest like $5.

I started investing in 2020 (I used to have strict financial disclosure requirements and conflict of interest laws I had to follow but now I am free of all that). I was of course late to GME but go in less late to AMC and made a few bucks.

I meant for dividend at 10% - but I do not know the business well nor the company. I listened to the last earnings call and the company said they use their excess electricity from operations to mine bitcoin (they claim to have 430) or sell the electricity to others, and they have oil and gas royalties from the permian basin - so they also have other types of revenues.

The US actually has a lot of sites pre-permitted for additional reactors. Time is still an issue overall unless one of the SMR companies get a working model in the field and can start a proper assembly line.

Nat gas power is the easiest and cheapest to build in the US.

Made searching and comparing much easier. Now if I can just find a stable biz near the bottom of the price cycle that pays good dividends instead of always finding them well after the price has risen for the last year or two. That may have been me. I already had Baker Hughes and with the talk of 'drill baby drill' I was thinking of a little more exposure to oil field services and HAL seemed like it might be ok because of its size, position, and the price had been trending down for about two years, so I bought some shares around 29ish I think. Drill baby drill was all over the news and BKR was rising and HAL increased some, maybe to 31ihs but HAL made no positive public statements about reorganizing, or renergizing, or repositioning for increased services so I sold 400 of the 500 shares and bought shares in some midstream (pipeline) companies with higher dividends thinking their prices would remain steady and there would be some increase durign the next year. A few days later HAL got soft and dipped further so I dumped the last 100 and bought Soundhound and SoFi which to my surprise have done better than I thought. So even though I mentioned it bought, I dumped it. Now HAL advertises their new fracing technology but there is no pop in their stock price, so still happy I sold into something else.

I was reading about a Canadian midstream company called Enbridge and was surprised to learn just how much pipe Enbridge owns/controls in the US and how interconnected the US and Canada is with regard to oil and gas flows from Canada into the US. I heard all the flap about Biden cancelling the Keystone pipeline and I thought that was supposed to be the main line, maybe the only big one, that was cancelled, but it was just an expansion of an already massive system. I just do not see how BC could stop the flows and not bust the Canadian businesses.

The pic is just the Enbridge newtwork. The TC Energy network is just an impressive (they were building the Keystone XL pipeline that Biden killed). Will see if Trump brings the Keystone pipeline back.

OH how i could tell you about Embridge and what happened about 11ish years ago in the Pacific northwest when they tried to get a pipeline to the port at Prince Rupert. What a mess that was, every native band got paid off by a group of american funded environmental activists to kill the project. It worked, and no pipeline got built. It was funny, as all the bands expected a huge pay day, instead the project died and everyone was left empty handed. There's rumors that Embridge may want to try again with a new project in the same region, with new native governments more open to the idea.

Due to some current technical difficulties I do not have access to those coins at the moment. They are dated in the 70s. I did buy some Sunshine Mine coins around 2011, but again I do not have immediate access to those either, so the best I can do it the pic from the internet of what they look like. I was working at the Hanford Nuke facility in Washington in 1992 and over a weekend made a surprise trip over to Kellog ID in the company car to visit my uncle. I believe the mine was already closed, he was already retired for years. He showed me around the mine site. He was working the mine but not on the shift when the fire started and all those miners died down there.

i wouldnt say its for nothing, they are working to build the mine, in the posted article it seems they had unexpected cost raises from their tailings filter setup where a contractor bailed on them and general costs came up over all. Not a huge deal breaker, but if it continues the project may have to be mothballed til things cool.

from one tard to another, it seems to me if you hold the stock in your retirement account (your brokerage knows) taxes are not withheld (that is what is says as I understand it. If you hold the stock in your personal, non retirement account, they withhold 15% for Canadian taxes. There is a law, I am fairly sure, against double taxation so if Canada withholds taxes you need to inform the IRS via one of their forms somewhere you already paid a certain amount of tax so the IRS may not tax also, but I am not any type of tax expert. More money more problems, more ways to get taxed if you are not careful, so it would be worth your time to investigate further to be sure you are not paying a penny more than necessary. In the past I would pay a tax preparer so I could see exactly what they did and I would grill them on why so I understood and if the next year things were the same I would just do it myself, otherwise if I had enough income and had questions it is better for me toget an expert to do to avoid any issues with the actual full retards that work at the IRS.

With the oil royalty trusts there is some deductions you amy be able to take bases on resource depletion, but I am still reading up on that to see if it would apply to me if I only bought a unit of the royalty trust. Its new to me so I am taking my time and researching.

One that I would still recommend as a short is NILI. Its pump has levitated well, but eventually it will go below CAD$0.10 again.

This turd, for example, will require 125% of its MC to rebuild its roasting mill alone. This was based on an old estimate and the figure is likely much higher. This doesn't even factor the development costs for the projects which are intended to feed this so-called asset. It came with maintenance and remediation costs for the Lone Tree pit, which are quite substantial. NGM basically dumped an environmental liability on them.

it might have been Earthlabs but there were several attempts at using AI to ID new prospects and drill targets using existing public geological data. I think i explained why this didnt work a few threads ago but basically loads of historical data points are either incorrectly positioned, incorrectly described or outright fraudulent. It takes ground truthing to check if an area is worth investigating, going off pure existing data is pointless.

Any use of micro seismics for mapping underground formations/viens? If the current data for AI is garbage then getting a new usable set quickly and cheaply would be the way to go. With all the AI nonsense I was thinking an array of geophones on the surface and in the mine and vibration machine (like for oil fields) and pooof the AI does a 3D to help pic targets for confirmation drilling/cores.

Case in point, pic related is a target map from Goliath resources. They discovered most of these targets from physical on the ground exploration. Perhaps AI modeling could work on Carlin style systems or other wide structures, but i dont see it being helpful with vein based mineralization.

in the oil bus money is not an issue, they spend boat loads developing new tech and investigating but they are looking over larger areas. Finding/tracking veins large enough for hard rock mining would be more challenging, maybe not cost effective, but as technology continues to improve cost comes down and equipment is smaller and more portable.

expect a couple dozen more hits like that from CNL. These projects are at least comparable and CNL has possibly an even more valuable project. Yukon isn't worth twice the price so it's an easy long. Agnico Eagle agrees with me, they took a 9.99% position a while ago. These guys are sitting on multiple porphyries that start at surface and go down more than a kilometer, and they have these insane high grade results at depth in the Ramp Zone. There's easily more than ten million ounces delineated already, possibly ten million more to come. Snownigger's deposit is geologically constrained so they will need to make brand new discoveries. CNL's targets are all open. Easy choice for me!

Sometimes he gets names wrong, like how he has multiple times confused different Ecuador-focused mining companies and thus said that he's long but then in another interview said he isn't. I wouldn't be surprised if he praised PAAS for what it is, basically the best silver stock on the planet, while still having chosen to sell since it became too overvalued. Lo and behold later on when those stock prices deflated people started blaming the guy for leading them astray or something.

Lot of US investors selling their biggest loser of the year before tax year end. I added some at .82 and .79 today. Brought the average down, still a small position. News that a JV is prepped and ready should the loan not be authorised is reassuring.

Spot keeps dropping because one seller needs to move lbs before year end and there's literally no buyers in Canada where the inventory is stored because conversion is booked solid. It's been a strong quarter for term volume (not sure the price has risen much, too many market reference contracts being signed - see nexgen), but the market watches an illiquid clearing house for physical deliveries.

I've been trading Anglo Plats but wary of accumulating much while Anglo Sr. is divesting large chunks and getting ready to spin it off. Their numbers are pretty good even in this depressed PGMs market, and I like platinum's chances of recovery next year. Less so palladium but if Russia continue to shit the bed it could have some big short term spikes.

Chrome is having a good year so some of the smaller South African PGMs companies are very profitable while being extremely cheap. Tharisa and Sylvania on the LSE pay good dividends and are expanding while competition is contracting.

Paladin's acquisition of Fission has finally passed the ICA clearance required and should complete in January. Paladin to get a listing on the TSX.

Deep Yellow and Bannerman have both delayed making final investment decisions on their projects until sometime in 2025. Prices aren't currently where they want them to be to go forward with contracting and financing. A slow supply response is of course incredibly bullish news.

It's very difficult to predict a market driven by super low volume spot transactions (like zero for two weeks low) and where most of the participants are developing or in ramp up, but Jan/Feb are usually relatively strong. Tax loss and year end selling over, new administration takes office in the biggest consumer with the lowest inventories.

Sell in May and go away.
