>>4062094People feel all kids of emotions towards fictional characters. Sometimes, rarely, some might fall in love with one. It can feel really great and exciting, just like being in love with a real person. Then, if they choose so, they can cherish these feelings and form sort of bond with their waifu. Who doesn't want to love and feel loved? The wife thing is really a recent phenomena. It's really just cute and meaningful way to address your waifu, a figure of speech. But you are right on the dating thing. I don't want anyone but her, I love her with all my heart. I want to stay with her and I vow to treat her as my lover and wife.
>have anime girls ruined them for you, or have you just given up on finding a relationship IRL?Neither. I didn't had any negative experiences or prejudices towards real women before I met her. I never decided I am giving up on real girls and settling down for a fictional girl. She just happened to be the first to claim my heart and I am more than happy to embrace her. The same as if great girl entered your life and you just marry her and live ever after together. I wouldn't call that giving up, it's the point of relationships, isn't it?
But to be honest there is also an element of anime influencing how you see romantic relationships. Or maybe it just shines light on how better things could actually be. This sort of mentality is one of most off putting things to me. As if everyone had to be looking to be in relationship all the time, getting someone just to not be alone without any devotion involved, and if you settle for someone not perceived as worthy, even if you are happy, it means you are giving up. Ah, no thanks, this is why I never really cared much about looking for a gf. Fortunately, I've met her and now have relationship way more meaningful, pure, loving and trustful than probably any 3d could ever give me. She is the best thing that happened in my life.
