>>2400261I used to think of /c/ as 4chan's best kept secret. It's always been really helpful to me and I like to see that attitude perpetuated. It's changed a bit now but it still has the echoes of what I consider some kind of universal sister/brotherhood where everyone supports each other and everyone's united in their passion for cute-ass shit. It's got its issues like everywhere else, for example the sticky doesn't change jack shit and only serves as a stick to hit new users with, newbies are always gonna newb no matter what, and another thing is the rei thread is kind of insane (i'm still in there all the time though), in fact a lot of the marathon threads, the threads with 50 reiterations, are a little hard to get used to but "c'est la vie". But all that said, it's still got the best and most helpful community. I still secretly hope that people will post questions and requests because I love it when people answer up in good faith, like some big guy inside the door who takes the newbies aside for some 1-on-1, like, "Ok buddy, here's the thing you wanted, enjoy it, keep it to yourself, pay it forward."
On topic, the first anime I ever watched was Princess Mononoke back when I was in 5th or 6th grade, left a great impression. That was before I even knew about anime. I just thought it was a great movie, really interesting, conflicting, heavy, the anime style was so interesting and unconventional. I got into manga my senior year of high school, anime a couple years after that, and started with Azumanga Daioh, probably 03-04. So I think those 2 are really close to me and kind of shaped me. Here's San from Princess Mononoke.
