The game mainly revolves around you building a fleet and their load out. You then send them out on their mission. Once their mission is done they return for repairs and resupply for their next mission.
That's where Akagi comes in. In the first version of the game, there was a bug in Akagi's programming that had her needing a full resupply after a mission, even if she barely used anything. She would use up far more resources for resupply than any other ship. And given she's one of the first aircraft carries in the game noobs can get, you can imagine the hassle it caused when she kept draining the limited supplies they started out with. This bug was eventually patched but not before the meme of Akagi being a glutton was born.
