Also given that 4chan initially grew out of SA and #raspberryheaven people still used names frequently, and the whole "anonymous philosophy" didn't really appear until like 2005/6. The mindset being that 4chan offered the choice of varying levels of anonymity, rather than having one mode as a structural/cultural default.
