This attached image is probably the next best contender, though. She actually goes mildly insane while looking after these blobs, talking to them as if they can understand her. I'm sure they can feel her motherly touch, and since it's the only comfort afforded to them in the darkness and vice versa, they are very good for each other, but they are not intelligent. Such is her emotional capacity that her mind starts giving out before her love. I have such a deep admiration for how sweet the tortured heart beating within this woman's chest is. As much as I love her, I'd probably only be able to give her back a small fraction of what she's already given. I think even just that's enough to justify devoting myself to her, though, because the only other thing waiting for her is a shallow grave given her current location and course.
