It really doesn't make sense, and Nasu has even identified this flaw in the writing, accounting it, implicitly, as a result of his novice skills and juvenile age at the time. I am still at a loss to understand the widespread appeal of this character. Because in her exposition, she is really several different characters, with each of them relating only loosely to her character concept and backstory.
