For me, ep!12 Rei looks like she's really, really enjoying the Ramen and slurping it down so fast because of that (look at her eyes) as some sort of funny background event.
What we see in Rebuild doesn't go much beyond that, really.
Especially when you consider this CR talk of Anno comming to value normal things like eating (or actual fieldwork, see the "scent of earth" comment of Shinji's) that he never took his time for, and if you consider that Rei already got his fussy eating habits, it all makes a great deal of sense. Someone who only tangentially touched the good things in life touching them a little more.
