But then since 3.0 everybody's angry at the state of the franchise in general, and fans of Rei in particular are especially angry about Rei's treatment overall, so talk of Rei suffering and especially any mention of Re-take (which is already disliked or hated by the majority of fans) is bound to make blood boil.
But regarding Retake, it felt to me like the author really hated Rei and just wanted to make her suffer as much as possible. Rei suffered in the series, but in Retake it was just tasteless hate-fuelled masturbatory material as opposed to what it was in NGE.
Anyway, I'm gonna stop talking about these things because it's not /c/ material and we're not here to argue.
