It's insulting how they portray him as some whiny useless uke when in the anime he doesn't even shed a tear no matter how wounded he got, but rather when people he cared for were hurt.
Besides that, the whole time he keeps moving forward and climbing up in power, and interviews and the script confirm that he was boiling inside and didn't stand the way he was treated.
