The alkaloid that actually has effects on depression is hyperforin (~2-3% is what you need), if it's less than that then you're just taking a placebo pill, as hypericin only has some slight antibiotic properties and some very very slight (theorized) effects on dopamine levels. I'm only vaguely acquainted with US pharmaceuticals/supplements, but I think Perika is standardized to the required hyperforin content. It's probably the only reliable US brand. I wouldn't trust any other one, since every pill could have anywhere between 99% and 1% of the advertised dose, and there's no guarantee that it'd contain enough hyperforin in the first place. If you're European then your local brand is probably good enough since our drug regulations are better, but you should still do your research.
And it has many other interactions, even with drugs that don't modulate the serotonergic system, due to inducing certain enzymes that affect the metabolism of some substances. You can read more about that online.
Also, obviously don't take SJW if you're currently on antidepressants, since you could give yourself serotonin syndrome.
