It makes me so pissed when people mistake her to be that type of plot device character that only exists to point out someone else's flaws because the very reason that I like her is that she is *different* from the Lolitas, Sabaths and Iocastas of the literary world; She damn sure tells Gendo that she won't be an extension of his will for him to project his dreams into, and most importantly, the show gives time to her very own feelings andthoughts about her situation. She HAS feelings, she IS a person, even when she has so little that is really her own; Almost no material posessions, the face was someone elses, the name was intended for someone else, she is supposed to give up her life for someone else, even her soul is borrowed, she still had her own thoughts and feelings and things she valued, and more yet, she retained the capacity for genuine kindness even if that hell of her life.
She might have followed Gendo, but she did so for her own reasons, and he realized that distinction far too late.
