>>3081903>what gives away that something has been photobashed It takes seeing a lot of it (a trained aye so to say) to spot it (the practice is pretty despised in the art community and some of the more autistic folks have went out of their way to find the base photos for the art, and seeing the comparisons helps a lot in identifying when the artist used a photo as a base), but it's almost always related to absolutely flawless anatomy (excluding the face, which is usually slightly deformed to make it more cartoonish/anime-ish) that gives the calque away and extremely "photorealistic" colour values; also the background is almost always nowhere near the same level of detail, or if it is, it comes off as incongruous with the characters (since it's painted over from an entirely different photograph).
(I have no HnK related art of my own to share. I only watched the anime last Sunday and I'm still reading the manga, so I haven't got the chance to draw anything yet.)
