>>2147006Now if you want to talk about potential of defective offspring, that's another story. While we don't really know what caused what or if the defects are genetic at all, but Lilly and Shizune are related. This means that there's a common ancestor in the family that is responsible for the births of a blind girl and a deaf girl in quick succession. I'm no geneticist but that raises a few eyebrows.
Now, blindness and deafness *can* and often does occur in combination with autism or other disabilities, but roughly 40% of the time it's the only defect. Looking at what we've seen of Lilly and Shizune throughout their routes, we can safely say that they are in that 40%, they have no other physical or mental disabilities other than the blindness/deafness. So while it's in the realm of possibility that there are a few bad genes floating around the family pool, mental disorders don't appear to be one of the possibilities. With time, any bad genes should phase out after a few generations, since the possibility of a defective child (or even just a carrier of the defective gene) is low at best.
Ah, I'm getting into my over-analyzing mode again, back to posting the girl I love.
