So when you get a phone for free, it's virtually guaranteed you're going to need to flash and root it just to make it usable. In particular, don't buy anything from MediaTek, Alps, or Life Wireless unless you're willing to do all that.
(I downloaded a random Rei so I don't drag the thread too far off topic, I'm not familiar with the series so I hope it's not one of the Reis that you guys hate.)
