So you think its better to let your brother die or sacrifice yourself for him? What do you think would have happened to Iris if she didn't when Axmann made her kill Jurgen? Lise takes the opposite route yet you use both as examples to disparage each girl, your points are contradictory. Finally its Lise whose the one with the wish to have a normal life with Theo again, its not only her ultimate desire but she needs him just to survive as she can't live without him. Theres nothing "ideal" about an ending that denies her that after everything she's been through especially when it was for his sake and the reason he's still breathing in the first place.

Pham was an active combatant in the middle of a combat zone during a rebel operation and fires an RPG at Lise's tsf which has proven to be able to down tsfs completely as there are other times rebels use them to ambush stasi tsfs and kill the pilots, plus its rebels with RPGs that shoot Lise's tsf down in her route leading to her being captured and tortured by the rebels not to mention being given by them to Axmann again, or executed by the rebels in Katia's route. Plus Lise was in the middle of a life threatening battle with the person she has given everything for and her whole world was falling apart. I would have returned fire at Pham too if I were in Lise's shoes it'd be unreasonable not too, even without all the extra suffering she was dealing, just simply being a stasi pilot getting shot at by a rebel with an RPG.
