>>2337658>By the end of the day manga gave a bonus to Rei and NGE without taking away anithing. But it DID take away something. The ending combined with the whole "loops" puts Rei in an incredibly weak position and undermines the entire finalization of the character.
Manga was mostly good, but the latest parts weren't.
Also I didn't reply to that part, but you know very well (or should know) why "mentioning" Yui is a negative for Rei in this case. Like you said, Rei had never much to do with Yui as a character in the original but as of late this has not been the case.
Rei's character has been undercut and more Yui has been introduced into it, producing a much worse character which increases the conflation between the two. That's horrible for Rei, a character who is in a need to attain independence.
In the manga, it is Yui's will that supercedes all of Rei, by forcing her to become the tool of her wish, to show Shinji snow. In NGE, and EoE, Yui was along for the ride while Rei was "boss" so to speak.
Don't say this:
>in manga she did the same but said goodbuye, cried a little ,and left a farewell gift - snow that Shinji she loved dreamt about. When it's obviously not the truth.
