I think with the artillery spotter part of it is that in Strike Witches there was none of the ground war side of things. I really enjoy the ground war side of things and seeing Manstein was really cool. Hikari is just willing to do what has to be done, she's a much better soldier in that way than Yoshika despite her relative lack of power.
