I know you're unsubtly referring to the Rebuild movies, but don't you see the same thing applies?
Rei Ayanami is there too, with no changed past as far as we can tell. When you bring in Rei Q, you have two characters in place of one. Rei Q is either Rei, or she isn't, and thus far it's shown that she is not. It's possibly that she is secretly Rei though, if you speculate that they will reveal that they pulled Rei out of there and lied in 3.0 about everything.
