>>2284402Nothing wrong with the M4/M16, they're pretty solid rifles (contrary to what armchairs will tell you, they actually developed past their teething problems and user errors from Vietnam).
She could just be crying because the gun is incredibly loud.
>>2284511It's the H&K XM-8, it was a prototype developed out of the canceled OICW program (the XM-29 OICW specifically, very ambitious project, but also really retarded in it's initial conception), basically, they split the XM-29 into two weapons, the XM-8 rifles, and the XM-25 Grenadelauncher/Airburst Cannon, the launcher was a ridiculously advanced piece of work, rounds could be set to detonate in the air at set distances, calculated with a laser range finder, while the XM-8 was basically just a slightly modified H&K G36 rifle with a cool looking futuristic body.
The XM-25 was a promising new weapon that the US Army tested in Afghanistan just a few years ago, to pretty good success (the way they deployed it was not to replace existing grenade launchers, but to compliment them, play along with them, apparently produced great results), we'll see more of it in the future.
The XM-8 however was a G36 except slightly heavier, this prompted H&K to make the (polymer) receiver of the gun lighter. Which wasn't a success, the weapon would experience warping and begin to actually start melting during sustained fire. At this point H&K said "fuck it" because the G36 already existed and this thing couldn't do anything better.
/k/ likes to call it a fish because it looks like one. It's also basically built on the same system as the old AR-180, which has a bit of relation to the M16 (same designer even), so your observation isn't totally absurd.
