>>2777630It's hard to know what kind of career she would pursue because the show gives us so little of her life. She likes reading and pulls some notable quotes out of nowhere so maybe a writer, she's into scientific topics so maybe some sort of researcher, she cares about people even when they're difficult, so maybe some sort of caregiver or counselor. Maybe like early Yui, despite all her talents she could be happy just being a housewife, I mean, there's nothing wrong with that.
Now that I think about it, There's further parallels between Yui & Rei I hadn't thought too much about: Yui excelled at science just as Rei is interested in it, Yui cared about preserving humanity's memory just like Rei feels a bond with all people. But Yui would have been happy being a homemaker while Rei got a pretty big response from Shinji saying she'd make a good mother.
So now I'm sure, her ideal life would be to marry Shinji, make breakfast early morning before going to work at her lab in Nerv. once her shift is over she'd head to the pool to relax and get some exercise. She'd come home in the evening and have dinner with him (prepared by him, it's only fair plus he's still the better cook) Afterwards do some reading and journaling while he plays some cello. And then they'd go to bed to do it over again next day. A simple routine but for her it would be bliss.
