There's no indication at all at what caused his arrhythmia; it could be genetic, or it could just be that god cursed him with it (or blessed, since it led to him meeting Lilly), or he (or his mom during pregnancy) just ate a bad truck-stop taco one day and it all went downhill from there. Or am I missing something, was it mentioned it was genetic?
Either way, even if both parents have some defect, there's still a very low possibility of a defective child, since their defects are different and therefore the dominant, non-defective gene of one person will beat out the defective recessive gene of the other. Now if both parents are blind, then we'll be drawing a lot of Punnet Squares.
