In the episode where Shinji says that the inside of the unit smells like Rei I always imagined Rei smells like the orange juice. And the orange juice I imagined smells like when you have your own blood on your fingers and you rub them until the liquid blood sort of becomes many rolled up pieces of said blood. The smell always stuck with me the same way it stuck with Shinji. And that I mean non-boner inducing but "deep" way.
